Admission Schedule

1. Application Period: 30 Jan. ~ 30 Mar.
2. Selection for candidates: 2 ~ 6 April
3. Announcement of candidates: 9 April
4. Deadline for Recommendation to NIIED: 13 April
5. Announcement for final grantees recommended by universities: 30 April
6. Admission Process for candidates recommended by overseas Korean embassies, government departments, or Korean adoption associations: 7~31 May
7. Announcement for Final Grantees recommended by overseas Korean embassies, government departments, or Korean adoption associations: 11 June
8. Process for Visa Issuance: 2 ~ 31 July
9. Entry into Korea: 27 ~ 29 Aug.
10. NIIED Orientation: 30 ~ 31 Aug.
11. Korean Language Course: 3 Sep.

Eligibility for Application

1. The applicant and his/her parents must have foreign citizenship. Applicants who hold Korean citizenship are not qualified for this program.
2. Applicants should be in good health, both mentally and physically, to stay in Korea for a long period of time. Applicants have to submit the Personal Medical Assessment (included in the application form) when he/she apply for this program, and then submit an Official Medical Examination Report issued in a hospital to NIIED after passing the NIIED Selection Committee. A serious illness reflected in the examination results will be the main cause of disqualification from the scholarship.
3. Applicants must be under 40 years of age as of 1 Sep. 2012 (Applicable to person born after Sep.1st,1972).
4. Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree as of 31 Aug. 2012
• Applicants who have ever enrolled or graduated in the degree program in Korea will be disqualified from the program.
• Applicants who apply for the Master’s program must hold a Bachelor’s degree or a diploma that is equivalent to or higher than a Bachelor’s degree.
• Applicants who apply for the Doctoral program must hold a Master’s degree or a diploma that is equivalent to or higher than a Master’s degree.
• Applicants who are expecting to obtain the relevant required degree or diploma by 31 Aug. 2012 must submit a certificate of degree or diploma expectation, and submit the official certificate of degree or diploma by 1 Sep.2012.
5. Applicants must maintain a grade point average (G.P.A.) of at least 2.64 on a 4.0 scale, 2.80 on a 4. 3 scale, 2.91 on a 4.5 scale or grades/marks/score of 80% or higher from the previously attended institution.
• If the transcript is not indicated in grades/marks/scores format, or is difficult to convert into percentages, attachment of official explanation from the attended institution is required.
6. Applicants who have Korean proficiency or English proficiency may be given preference.
7. Applicants who apply for natural science and technology program may be given preference.

Campus Life

1. Residence Hall
• Inje University provides convenient on-campus housing for International Students in 3 residence halls- Inje Global Town, English Town and Biotech Village, which can accommodate about 500 International Students.
• Inje Global Town that assigns all of rooms for International Students is to enhance the convenience of International Students.
• The residence halls give International Students the opportunity to practice Korean language and culture through Korean roommate program.
• The residence halls offer work-out, study and recreation rooms for residents.
2. Counseling Center for International Students
• Counseling center for International Students is run by the graduate office to help out the students’ problems relating to living and studying in Korea, such as housing, study visa, qualifications for degrees, insurance, job seeking etc.
3. Cultural Events for International Students
• Inje University offers a variety of cultural events for International Students such as hiking on Korean Mountains, volunteering programs, practicing Korean traditional holidays etc.
4. The Advantage of Reduction on Paik Hospital Fee
• International Students can get the advantage of reduction on hospital fee when they use Paik Hospitals. (Seoul, Pusan, Sanggye, Ilsan, and Haeundae)
5. International Students Union & Alumni Association
• The graduate school runs International Students Union to support International Students’ successful adaptation to campus life at Inje in many ways.
• Alumni association is running websites which contain the International alumni’s information and sending regular newsletters for alumni in order to strengthen the connection between International Students and Inje University.

Important Notes for Applicants

• Dual applications are not accepted. Applicants must apply for this program via only one organization.
• If any of the required documents is missing or contains false information, the admission may be rescinded.
• All application documents will not be returned.
• All documents should be written in English or Korean. Documents written in another language should be accompanied by a notarized English or Korean translation.
• A student whose graduation was pending at other institutions during the time of application should submit the Graduation Certificate(s) and the Degree Certificate(s) before the semester begins.
